The New York Yankees have signed outfielder Luis Gonzalez to a minor-league deal, adding depth to their outfield unit. However, Gonzalez missed most of the following season due to back surgery.
The Yankees, who have been active in reshaping their outfield, including trades for Juan Soto and Alex Verdugo, see Gonzalez as a potential asset with upside at the plate. While playing time in the majors might be limited given the team’s outfield depth, Gonzalez has the opportunity to compete for a role as the team’s fourth outfielder.
