Breaking News: Just In Another Florida State star confirmed He is leaving Florida State

Former Florida State football transfer Demorie Tate, a five-star defensive back, has made the decision to bring his talents across town to Florida A&M (FAMU). Tate, who sat out the entire 2023 season after entering the transfer portal following the 2022 season, has committed to playing for the newly crowned SWAC (Southwestern Athletic Conference) and HBCU (Historically Black Colleges and Universities) national champions.

Hailing from Orlando’s Freedom High School, Demorie Tate was highly touted as one of the top players in the 2020 class, which was the first under Florida State’s head coach Mike Norvell. In the 2020 class rankings by 247Sports, Tate was ranked as the No. 22 overall prospect, the No. 3 cornerback, and the No. 4 recruit in the state of Florida. Despite having multiple offers, including from Miami, Alabama, Georgia, and Auburn, Tate chose Florida State.

However, his early years at Florida State saw him redshirted in 2020, and he only appeared in one game for the Seminoles in 2021 without recording any defensive statistics. Following these developments, Tate decided to enter the transfer portal.

Now, the talented defensive back is set to join a Florida A&M squad that enjoyed a highly successful 2023 season, finishing with a 12-1 record and securing a 30-26 victory in the Celebration Bowl. This win earned them the title of SWAC and HBCU national champions.

Tate is part of a notable group of former FBS (Football Bowl Subdivision) players who have signed with FAMU during the early signing period. This includes former Florida Atlantic quarterback Daniel Richardson, wide receiver A’Ceon Cobb, and former Clemson tight end Sage Ennis, who committed to FAMU on Sunday.

The move to FAMU provides Tate with an opportunity to contribute to a successful program and make an impact on the field as part of the Rattlers’ football team.
