However, his performance took a downturn in 2023, leading to a challenging season with the Seattle Mariners.
In 2023, Castillo struggled with a 6.23 ERA in 8.2 innings for the Mariners, resulting in him being outrighted off the roster in early May. He spent most of the season in Triple-A, where he continued to face challenges with a 5.13 ERA in 47.1 innings. Following the season, Castillo became a minor league free agent in October.
