“We’re Really Just Going To Go Out There With Confidence” C.J. Stroud Expresses Confidence As Texans Prepare For Crucial Matchup
The two-times Graham–George Offensive Player of the Year and star quarterback of the Houston Texans, C.J. Stroud, has the requisite confidence to play when it comes to the big games. He showed his grit when he was with Ohio State and played against Georgia.
According to Pro Football Talk, he ended that game with 23-of-34 for 348 yards, four touchdowns, and no interceptions, adding rushing for thirty-four yards. The last game for the Texans came against the Tennessee Titans and they trounced the Titans with an ending score of 26-3.
The rookie quarterback NFL record-setter has provided excellent performances throughout his first season and is poised to face a vital game against the Indianapolis Colts.
He said in a news conference, “Yeah, I’m excited. I’m ready to have fun. I think, like I was saying earlier, I just [had to] go be myself. Go be ourselves, just put it on the field, and there’s nothing to lose — I mean, there’s a lot to lose, but in my perspective, there’s nothing to lose.
“We’re basically just going to go out there with confidence. That was the primary thing we talked about today, being relentless in every single thing that we do, and what’s the worst that could happen? Playing hard and playing fast. So, we don’t doubt ourselves. We truly think we can win this game, and that’s the plan, so [we have to] go out there and just execute.”
However, Stroud has claimed that he has found how to be himself in those key situations and games that have big stakes. The famous quarterback remarked that he is treating the next game like every other contest.
“Not making the moment more than what it is, and just go out there having fun. This game is designed to be fun, so that’s what I aim to do, not be in an eggshell or be nervous. Of course, there are going to be nerves. I’m naturally nervous every game, but I simply think those are probably the reason why I just lock in on my preparation and things like that.”
He further remarked, “[I]t’s the same game we’ve been playing since we were children, so nothing changes. We’ve got to simply prepare hard and do everything that we need to do to attempt to win this game and I think that will carry us home. But, trying to make it too huge, that’ll freak you out and make you nervous, so I just believe in just keeping even-keeled.”
