Four-star DL in 2025 Lance Jackson pledges allegiance to Texas
The No. 9 defensive lineman and a prospect ranked in the top 100 in the 2025 class are acquired by the Longhorns.
With a promise from 2026 Aledo running back Raycine Guillory Jr. and a pledge from Texarkana Pleasant Grove defensive lineman Lance Jackson on Sunday, the Texas Longhorns are benefiting from Saturday’s Junior Day.
Jackson told On3, “I just know they will get me to my full potential.” “I adore the coaching styles of Coach Sark and Coach PK. In my opinion, PK is also a great guy. He was also one of my brother’s favorite recruiters when he was at Washington, where he was being recruited. I adore Austin and am certain that this is my ideal location.
The 6’5, 245-pound player, who chose Texas over Texas A&M, Tennessee, and Arkansas as his final three options, is the younger brother of Arkansas defensive end Landon Jackson. Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Oregon, Penn State, TCU, and Wisconsin were among the nearly thirty offers that Jackson had in all. Almost two years ago, following his freshman season and Texas’s offer during the spring evaluation period of the previous year, Jackson’s recruitment really took off.

Pleasant Grove’s two-way standout Jackson is viewed as an athlete in some circles due to his natural ability to catch the ball outside of his frame and make plays after the catch, which might lead to him being a tight end. Jackson is an exceptional defensive end with a great wingspan and burst off the ball, but he still has to work on building strength in his upper and lower body and understanding how to best utilize his long arms.
Jackson, who also plays pitcher, was selected to the Texas District 10-4A DII first team at tight end and defensive end in his sophomore season, which saw him record 63 tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, and two passes broken up. In addition, Jackson was named to the MaxPreps first-team Freshman All-American team as a tight end in his rookie year.
According to the 247Sports Composite rankings, the consensus four-star recruit is rated as the No. 9 defensive lineman and the 104th player nationally. Jackson is currently the fifth commitment for the Longhorns, who are ranked No. 6 in the SEC and No. 15 overall in the 2025 class.
