AUSTIN: The Texas Longhorns have added the sixth pledge of their 2025 recruiting class, continuing to build for the future in the midst of an offseason that has seen pledges and roster additions elsewhere.
Lance Jackson, a 2025 athlete from Pleasant Grove (Texarkana, TX), who plays both tight end and defensive end, committed to Texas on Sunday. He announced the news on Twitter (now known as X).
The 6-5, 245-pound player choose Texas A&M over Alabama, Arkansas, Tennessee, and other schools.
He told On3, “I just know they will get me to my full potential.” “I adore the coaching styles of Coach Sark and Coach PK. In my opinion, PK is also a great guy. He was also one of my brother’s favorite recruiters when he was at Washington, where he was being recruited. I adore Austin and am certain that this is my ideal location.
Jackson recorded 63 tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, and two pass breakups in his rookie season in 2022.
Ja’Tavion Sanders encountered skepticism from the outside about his tight end skills when he first got to Austin. Some believed that he would be most effective in a defensive line role. Who was ultimately in the wrong?

Jackson, on the other hand, welcomes this adaptability and now provides the Longhorns with a dynamic player who might play two distinct roles. Pete Kwiatkowski will probably stay on the defensive end of the field because of his role in Jackson’s recruitment, but he provides Steve Sarkisian with choices.
