Raheem Morris expands the Falcons staff by five.
Raheem Morris is still adding coaches to the Falcons before his news conference tomorrow.
The team made many more employment announcements on Saturday. These included secondary coach Justin Hood, senior offensive assistant Ken Zampese, offensive assistants Nick Jones and K.J. Black, defensive assistants Lance Schulters and John Timu, and pass game specialist/game management Tim Berbenich.
Morris continues to rely on his connections in Los Angeles for his staff in Atlanta, three of whom are from the Rams. Morris was followed by Berbenich, Jones, Black, and Zac Robinson from his previous team to the Falcons.
Berbenich, who has over 20 years of experience as an NFL assistant coach, has one of the most interesting jobs. He helped Sean McVay with situational management, according to The Athletic, and he’ll likely play a similar role in Atlanta in addition to becoming a pass game expert in his new position.
Thanks to the Bill Walsh Diversity Coaching Fellowship, Jones worked with the offensive line during his tenure with the Falcons in 2020. As a result, Chris Lindstrom, Jake Matthews, and Kaleb McGary are acquainted with Atlanta’s new assistant offensive line coach. Alongside former Rams quarterbacks coach Zac Robinson, Black worked with the quarterbacks in Los Angeles.
Although Schulters and Raheem Morris were teammates at Hofstra during their playing careers, Schulters also worked closely with the future head coach of the Falcons during the 2022 season as a defensive assistant with the Rams.
Morris’ staff has coaches from other teams in Los Angeles besides the Rams. The Chargers lost out on Timu, defensive line coach Jay Rodgers, tight ends coach Kevin Koger, and pass game specialist Chandler Whitmer.
Raheem Morris, the new head coach of Atlanta, will be introduced by the Falcons tomorrow, giving us further insight into his character and goals for the summer.
