Signing safety Brandon Alexander, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers
Late on Wednesday, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers secured a third starter in less than twenty-four hours, capping off an incredible week for the team.
Just one day after completing trades for Brady Oliveira and Dalton Schoen, the Bombers signed veteran safety Brandon Alexander to a one-year contract in order to keep him out of the free agent pool.
Alexander has been a player in the CFL for Winnipeg for the last six seasons.
He missed a large portion of the 2022 season due to a knee injury, but the 30-year-old recovered well enough to have 41 tackles and two interceptions in 17 games the previous season.
It was good enough to earn him his second career West Division all-star selection.
The Bombers still have 17 players whose contracts are about to expire as CFL free agency gets underway on Tuesday.
