Breaking News: New York Yankees Now In Talk To Sign Top Experienced Free Agency

The New York Yankees, known for their ability to sign top free agents, may not be making any more significant moves this offseason, particularly in the pursuit of pitchers Blake Snell or Jordan Montgomery, according to longtime Yankees reporter Jack Curry. The Yankees are currently above the luxury tax threshold, and signing a pitcher like Snell to a deal worth around $30 million per year would result in a significant financial burden, exceeding $60 million per year.

Curry highlighted the financial implications, stating, “If you consider someone like Snell a $30 million pitcher, and he can contribute to you at that level. Do you consider him a $63 million pitcher?” He expressed skepticism about the Yankees delving too deep into the Snell and Montgomery sweepstakes due to the financial constraints.

While the Yankees have been previously linked to Snell, Curry suggested that the team may not be keen on pursuing these pitchers given the financial considerations. Although Yankees owner Hal Steinbrenner has expressed dissatisfaction with the starting rotation, Curry believes the team may not aggressively pursue Snell and Montgomery.

Both Snell and Montgomery are represented by agent Scott Boras, and their free agency status remains unresolved. Boras is waiting for teams to meet his clients’ contract demands, but the Yankees, if still interested, may be hoping for a reduction in the asking price before making any further additions to their roster.
