Former Dolphins wide receiver Cedrick Wilson, Jr. is signed by the Saints.
Cedrick Wilson, Jr., a wide receiver, is joining the New Orleans Saints on a two-year deal.
Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the wide receiver Cedrick Wilson, Jr., a free agent, is being signed by the New Orleans Saints to a two-year contract. Wilson played with the Dallas Cowboys for four seasons before spending the last two with the Miami Dolphins.
In 2022, Wilson signed a three-year deal as a free agent with the Dolphins. Although Wilson was signed, the Dolphins traded for Tyreek Hill from the Kansas City Chiefs six days later. Tyreek Hill was supposed to be the main offensive complement to Jaylen Waddle in Miami’s offense. Wilson was never able to establish himself as the offense’s third option because Hill and Waddle were the top two receivers, and he saw his role dwindle with time.
During the 2023 preseason, Wilson and the Dolphins reached an agreement to restructure his contract, which included a clause allowing him to become a free agency in 2024 and creating a void year for 2023. Wilson played in 56 games over his two seasons with Miami, starting 34 of them. He had 34 receptions for 432 yards and three touchdowns. He returned 17 punts for an average of 7.5 yards while playing on special teams.
