Breaking: Just In Another Top Florida State Seminoles Star Confirm To Enter Transfer Portal

Forward Cam’Ron Fletcher of FSU basketball intends to use the NCAA Transfer Portal.
After suffering two consecutive season-ending knee injuries, the former Kentucky Basketball signee will be searching for a new team for his last campaign.

According to Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports, Florida State winger Cam’Ron Fletcher intends to use the NCAA Transfer Portal. Due to two consecutive knee injuries that ended his season, the senior has only participated in 17 games over the past two years. He should have little trouble receiving a medical redshirt, but he will require a waiver in order to play next season.

During his three seasons in Tallahassee, Fletcher shot 34.2% from 3-point range and averaged 7.7 points per game and 4.6 rebounds per game. The native of St. Louis began his career at Kentucky, where he played for Coach Calipari for one season before moving to Florida State. I wouldn’t be shocked if he ended up somewhere closer to home, be it one of the Illinois colleges or Saint Louis, who recently got a new coach and is among the more highly regarded mid-majors.

Before suffering his first knee injury against Virginia in the 2022–2023 season, Cam’Ron Fletcher was maybe Florida State’s top player. He was taking advantage of teams that were dozing off since he was playing at a high level and with a high motor. Fletcher played his way back into shape and raced back to be ready for the 2023–24 season, but he re-injured the same knee while playing at UNC nearly a year before the Virginia game. For both the squad and its supporters, it was a devastating moment.

To put it mildly, his one season at Kentucky was turbulent. Around Christmas break, Coach Calipari sent Fletcher home after suspending him from the team and stating, “We have asked Cam Fletcher to take some time and step away from the team.” To sort his priorities, he needs to take stock of his situation and do some introspection. Everyone in the team is subject to zero tolerance for any behavior or attitude that is harmful to the group. After our conversation, Cam and his mother are aware of my affection and concern for him, but they also see that adjustments must be made. Whether he can function in this atmosphere both on and off the court is his responsibility to determine.”

Fletcher took some time to adjust to Coach Hamilton’s system after transferring to FSU, frequently getting lost on weakside defense. He always gave it his best, and when he was on the court, he typically had an effect.

Only Chandler Jackson and Taylor Bol Bowen from the previous season are expected to stay at Florida State; but, since the transfer portal will remain open until May 1st, anything could happen in the next few days. They signed JUCO player Malique Ewin, high school players Daquan Davis, AJ Swinton, and Christian Nitu, and have only added Hampton’s Jerry Deng as a transfer thus far.
