Report: Safety in Alabama Peyton Woodyard Accesses the Transfer Gateway
After switching from Georgia, Peyton Woodyard first committed to Alabama in August 2023.

According to Pete Nakos of On3 Recruiting, Alabama safety Peyton Woodyard entered the transfer portal on Monday with a do not contact tag.

Along with redshirt freshman defensive lineman Khurtiss Perry and redshirt sophomore offensive lineman James Brockermeyer, he is the third member of the Crimson Tide to transfer during the spring transfer window.

Strangely enough, Alabama was allowed to add Charlotte freshman Kameron Howard, a safety, earlier on Monday through the transfer site. Alabama’s 2024 class also includes Red Morgan and Dre Kirkpatrick Jr., two more pure safeties.
Woodyard, a native of St. John Bosco, California, announced on social media back on August 8, 2023, that he was abandoning his allegiance to the Georgia Bulldogs in favor of playing for the Tide.

In June 2021, Woodyard received a scholarship offer from Alabama following his impressive performance at a summer camp in Tuscaloosa. Although he had committed to Georgia in January of this year, he kept going on college visits. After making an official visit to the Capstone at the end of June, Woodyard finally made the decision to play for Alabama.

Woodyard enrolled early because he took part in bowl practices with Alabama before the Crimson Tide’s Rose Bowl matchup with Michigan in the College Football Playoff semifinals. but since he still has four years of eligibility left, he will now try to start college somewhere else.
In addition to being a four-star recruit and the general consensus No. 128 player in the 2024 class, Woodyard ranked as the nation’s No. 7 safety and the top prospect in California.
