Xisco Munoz’s team travel to the Hawthorns on Tuesday night still looking for their first Championship win of the season and coming off consecutive 3-0 defeats.
Darnell Furlong, a West Brom defender, has issued a warning shot to Sheffield Wednesday ahead of tomorrow night’s Championship meeting. The Owls are in poor form as they head to the Midlands.
They are now bottom of the Championship and the only team in the second division not to win this season. Manager Xisco Munoz is under intense scrutiny after losing his past two games 3-0. On both occasions, against Swansea and subsequently Sunderland, supporters demanded that the Spaniard be fired.
Albion, on the other hand, are on the rise and have only lost one of their last eight games. They defeated previously unbeaten Preston North End 4-0 away from home at the weekend. Furlong opened the score and argues that, despite their finest performance of the season, the players’ thoughts quickly shifted to the Owls’ visit.
The 27-year-old told the Baggies’ official website: “We just put in a great performance and won 4-0.” And the first shout from all the boys (in the locker room) is ‘get ready to go Tuesday’. Perhaps it hasn’t come together perfectly with performances this season, but it did on Saturday.
“We were quite pleased with the performance. I don’t think we’ve been happy with our performances as a team so far in terms of how we’ve performed.
“We had previously gotten points where we needed to, but everything came together on Saturday.” Everything, including performance and ambitions. It demonstrated what we are capable of.
“We went to Preston knowing the run they were on and the shape they were in. They had done an excellent job thus far, but it made no difference to how we felt about the game. We went there confident we could beat them, and we did just that.”
