Crystal Palace now interested in signing striker with 28 goals and 26 assists

Crystal Palace and Fulham are set to compete with Tottenham in the January transfer window for Al-Ittihad winger Jota.
Tottenham are competing with Fulham and Crystal Palace for the 24-year-old Portuguese winger Jota, according to 90min. The former Celtic star’s future with Saudi club Al-Ittihad is questionable, as he could return with former manager Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham.

The Saudi Pro League was present throughout the summer window, as was their pursuit of some elite European talent. Some of those teams brought in quality talent from the continent, notably former Celtic star Jota, who Al-Ittihad spent £25 million for.

While he appeared to be a major signing for compatriot Nuno Espirito Santos, internal issues have caused Al-Ittihad to take a drastic turn. Jota was omitted from the club’s Saudi Pro League team, raising questions regarding his future.

As things currently stand, Jota is in talks with Al-Ittihad to find a solution. Some sources believe he will try to cancel his contract and take a large pay cut, while others believe the Saudi club would sell the forward to a European club.

These issues began to surface before the European window closed, and Tottenham was interested in signing him. However, the athlete stayed with Al-Ittihad with the hope of resolving his troubles and beginning his career in the Saudi Pro League.

Jota is expected to leave the club now that things have become obvious, and Tottenham are exploring a move. A reunion with Ange Postecoglou appears to be in the cards, as the Australian manager was instrumental in the signing when at Celtic.

Tottenham are competing with Fulham and Crystal Palace for the 24-year-old Portuguese winger. Both of those London clubs are looking to bolster their attacking lines and may seek a low-cost trade for Jota.

Because of Postecoglou’s presence, Tottenham has the upper hand in this hunt. If the player wants to play frequently after January, he may weigh his choices and choose a club where he will get plenty of playing time.

Meanwhile, Tottenham have already signed a similar player in Brennan Johnson on deadline day, but Postecoglou would not hesitate to bring Jota. The 24-year-old Portuguese winger played a vital role during the Australian’s success at Celtic.

Jota registered 28 goals and 26 assists in 83 games, which shows why Postecoglou would not hesitate to bring him to Tottenham. He offers more than what his current wing options do, as the 24-year-old Portuguese winger can make Spurs even stronger in the final third.
