**Seahawks Sign Veteran QB**
The Seattle Seahawks have bolstered their quarterback room with notable veteran signings this season.
Alongside 33-year-old starter Geno Smith, first-year head coach Mike Macdonald has added more experienced players. Sam Howell, a former Commanders starter, was traded to the Seahawks from Washington D.C. earlier this offseason after two years on the East Coast.
Recently, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Seattle signed former XFL standout and veteran backup P.J. Walker to the active roster.
Walker has extensive experience, having gone undrafted out of Temple in 2017 and spending time in both the NFL and XFL. His NFL stints include the Indianapolis Colts, Carolina Panthers, Chicago Bears, Cleveland Browns, and now the Seahawks. In the XFL, he led the league in passing yards and touchdowns in 2020 with the Houston Roughnecks, earning All-XFL honors.
Walker is expected to provide depth for the Seahawks. He has played in 21 NFL games, starting 9, with a career record of 5-4 and a passer rating of 60.0. His role as a backup appears set, characterized by his savvy and high football IQ.
Macdonald’s decision to bring in another experienced quarterback makes sense for his first full season as a head coach, ensuring he has all the help he can get.
