Morgan Gibbs-White has joked that he avoids “incredible” new Nottingham Forest signing Murillo in training after praising the Brazilian for his physical attributes.
Murillo joined Steve Cooper’s side this summer, arriving from Brazilian side Corinthians in a deal said to be worth in the region of 15 million euros (about £12.8m). And the 21-year-old defender, who signed a five-year contract, has impressed in his first games for the club, against Brentford last week and now Crystal Palace, where Forest drew 0-0 this evening.
Murillo was at one stage seen weaving his way past several Palace defenders in the opposition box with Gibbs-White telling Sky Sports. he kept telling the young centre-back to “pass” before he nearly scored.
“Honestly, he’s an incredible player,” Gibbs-White said. “His first day of training he made a tackle against me and I felt I felt his power. I felt his strength. I was like, ‘I’m not going near him again’.
“When he was going on this little run here, I was screaming at him time to pass, pass, pass, pass, and every time I said pass, he did – another (Palace) player. Every time. You know, it’s an unbelievable run and unlucky that he didn’t get the goal In the end.”
