**Reckart to Leave Duke After 2023-24 Season**

**DURHAM, N.C.** – Angela Reckart, Duke’s head cross country and assistant track and field coach, will leave the program after this season to pursue other opportunities.

Reckart joined Duke Athletics in June 2021 after serving six seasons as the associate head coach of cross country and assistant coach of track & field at Penn State. During her three years at Duke, she led the men’s and women’s cross country teams to six meet victories and 16 top-five finishes. Under her guidance, the Blue Devils achieved five USTFCCCA All-Southeast Region honors, the 2022 ACC Freshman of the Year award, and three All-ACC selections.

“I am grateful to Duke’s Vice President and Director of Athletics Nina King for the chance to lead this program over the past three years,” said Reckart. “I wish the team all the best as my family and I move on to our next chapter.”

“We deeply appreciate Coach Reckart’s commitment to Duke Athletics,” said Nina King. “She has played a key role in the development and success of many student-athletes, and we wish her well in her future endeavors.”

Under Reckart’s leadership, Amina Maatoug achieved the highest placement by a Duke cross country runner with a ninth-place finish at the 2023 NCAA Cross Country Championships. Maatoug also earned back-to-back USTFCCCA All-America honors, becoming just the fifth Duke runner to achieve consecutive All-America titles, and won the mile at the 2024 ACC Indoor Track & Field Championships.

Reckart also guided Duke to a fifth-place finish at the 2022 ACC Cross Country Championships, the highest finish for the men’s and women’s teams since 2015 and 2019, respectively.

In track, Reckart coached the distance unit to ACC Championships in the men’s and women’s indoor mile and the women’s indoor distance medley relay (DMR). Her athletes earned 10 USTFCCCA All-America honors and 14 All-ACC accolades. They also set 47 top-five program marks, including school records in seven indoor events (men’s 1000m, men’s and women’s mile, men’s and women’s 3000m, men’s and women’s DMR) and seven outdoor events (men’s 800m, men’s and women’s 5000m, men’s 4xMile relay, women’s 1500m, women’s 3000m steeplechase, and women’s DMR).

Reckart graduated from the College of New Jersey in 2008, where she was a seven-time All-American in track & field and part of a 4×400-meter relay team that won two national titles.
