Four pledges in the past week have given Miami’s recruiting class some shape.
Ezekiel Marcellin, a linebacker for the Miami Hurricanes, declared on Saturday that he will play for the Hurricanes from home. For his vow, the Hurricanes defeated Stanford, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Louisville, and Pittsburgh.
Throughout his recruitment, the 6-foot, 190-pound player has made numerous trips to Miami, and the Hurricanes were among the first Power 4 institutions to offer him a chance. In March 2022, the local program made a proposal.
Ultimately, the Hurricanes are retaining one of Dade County’s best prospects at home.
Marcelin is rated as a high-three star recruit by 247Sports, with a ’89’ rating that places him as the 34th best linebacker in the nation.
The lone South Florida prospects in the Hurricanes recruiting class this cycle are the rising senior and his teammate, safety Amari Wallace, ranked in the Top 247 rankings. They both used Raw Miami for their 7-on-7 football games.
Marcelin, along with defensive lineman Rueben Bain, defensive lineman Armondo Blount, and linebacker Wesley Bissainthe, are among the many outstanding Central products who have played college football at Miami in recent years.
According to MaxPreps, Marcelin finished with 109 tackles last fall, 19 of which were for a loss, and 12 sacks.
Director of scouting for 247Sports Andrew Ivins emphasized some of Marcelin’s promising qualities.
He’s an off-ball linebacker with an innate ability to hit people hard. a major contributor as a junior and has been involved in a reputable Miami Central program since his freshman year. He is currently under 6-foot and weighs about 205 pounds, so he is a little on the smaller side, but his short-area quickness stats are encouraging. defender has the ability to navigate through traffic and locate the football. can enhance the blitz in some way as well. Although he might not be a genuine three-down player on Saturdays, he can manage drop coverage duties on Fridays. Consider him a higher-floor, physically gifted second-level defender overall.
With eleven pledges in the Class of 2025, Miami is now ranked No. 30 in the country.
