Charlton Athletic midfielder reveals he is set to undergo surgery
Charlton Athletic midfielder Terry Taylor has revealed he is going to have to undergo ankle surgery.
The summer signing from Burton Albion came off with the problem in the 0-0 draw at Shrewsbury Town.
And Taylor posted an update on his social media platform – X – yesterday.
He said: “Wanted to let all you Addicks fans know that I need surgery on my ankle after last weekend.
“Not the way I wanted to start my time here but I’m going to work harder to recover and get back on the pitch. I’ll be behind the boys with you all until then!”
The 22-year-old has made seven appearances in all competitions for the South London club.
Taylor also had an ankle injury which prematurely ended his last campaign, ruling him out of Burton’s matches from February onwards.
“The initial fear is it’s his ankle, because he rolled his ankle early on in the game,” said Charlton head coach Michael Appleton immediately after the Shrewsbury match.
“He went knee to knee with one of their players a little bit later. He was really sore in a couple of areas.
“The ankle is the main issue. We don’t know the extent [of the injury] but we do know that he will be out for a period of time.”
