**Raptors Waive Mouhamadou Gueye**
The Toronto Raptors have waived forward Mouhamadou Gueye, according to Blake Murphy of Sportsnet.ca.
Gueye had been on a two-year two-way contract with Toronto since March. Another team could claim him and take on his contract for the 2024/25 season. If he clears waivers, he will become an unrestricted free agent.
Gueye played college basketball at Monroe, Stony Brook, and Pittsburgh from 2016-22. Although he went undrafted, he spent most of his first two professional seasons in the G League with the Texas Legends and Raptors 905.
In 39 games at the NBAGL level last season, he averaged 14.2 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 2.6 blocks in 31.0 minutes per game, shooting 56.1% from the field. However, he struggled from beyond the arc and made only 49.5% of his free throws.
After initially signing a 10-day contract with Toronto post-trade deadline in February, Gueye was promoted to a two-way contract for the final weeks of the season. The 6’9” forward, turning 26 in July, appeared in 11 NBA games, averaging 2.4 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks in 10.9 minutes per game.
With Gueye’s departure, the Raptors now have one player, D.J. Carton, on a two-way contract for 2024/25 and are set to open up two additional two-way slots when the new league year begins next week.
