**Markieff Morris Advocates for Mavericks to Sign Twin Brother Marcus**
The 34-year-old has a suggestion for the team’s remaining roster spot.
Following their 2024 NBA Finals appearance, the Dallas Mavericks have had an eventful offseason, including a notable acquisition of Golden State Warriors legend Klay Thompson through a sign-and-trade. Despite this, the Mavericks still have some roster vacancies to fill. Former Mavericks forward and current free agent Markieff Morris knows exactly who he wants to see signed—his twin brother Marcus Morris.
“Marcus Morris would be perfect!” Markieff expressed on social media, responding to a post that listed his brother among Dallas’ potential offseason targets.
Both Morris brothers are currently free agents, but Markieff has indicated his intention to return to Dallas next season. He played in 26 games for Dallas last season and appeared in one postseason game during the Mavs’ playoff run in the Western Conference.
However, there’s a complication with Markieff’s proposed family reunion. As of Thursday, the Mavericks have only one open roster spot. They would need to make additional room if they plan to sign both Morris twins, unless one decides to retire and transition into a coaching role.
The Morris twins have had strikingly similar NBA careers since their three years together at Kansas from 2008-2011.
Markieff, the 13th pick in the 2011 NBA draft, has averaged 10.3 points and 4.9 rebounds per game over 13 seasons with eight different teams. His brother Marcus, selected one pick later in 2011, has averaged 12.0 points and 4.4 rebounds per game over 13 seasons with eight teams.
The twins’ NBA careers overlapped for over two seasons with the Phoenix Suns from 2012-15. As they approach the final stages of their playing careers, the Morris twins are eager to reunite once more.
