Before the Braves’ second game against the Giants, we learned some great news from Justin Toscano of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution: Michael Harris II ran for the first time since he injured his hamstring, which is a big step toward coming back to Atlanta.
After being out for a few weeks, Harris started playing baseball a few days ago. Prior to Tuesday’s game against San Francisco, he was spotted throwing on the field.

This is a development that is good for Harris’s rehabilitation. The team’s offensive is in dire need of the 2022 Rookie of the Year, who hasn’t been in the lineup since June 15th due to a hamstring strain.

Although the recovery period for this type of injury is normally six to eight weeks, hamstrings are challenging. Tomorrow isn’t a playoff game for the Braves, so there’s no need to push Michael Harris, especially for a player who depends on his explosion.

It appears that we will at least have to wait a few weeks before we see him playing centerfield in Truist once more, but the main objective is to avoid setbacks, which are unavoidable with these kinds of situations.

Even with an 84 OPS+ (16% below league average) before to his injury, Michael Harris II was not producing at a high enough level to be a blessing for the Braves offense.

Harris amassed a 124 OPS+ in his first two campaigns. Atlanta’s hopes of catching the division-leading Phillies would greatly increase if the Braves can regain that before the trade deadline.
