Good News: Kelly Norvell Confirm Major Boost As Another 5-Star Commits To Florida State Seminoles Football

2026 Safety Tedarius Hughes Commits to FSU

The Florida State Seminoles have secured a new addition to their 2026 recruiting class, #Tribe26, with the commitment of South Florida safety Tedarius Hughes, who considers FSU his “dream school.”

Tedarius Hughes, a 6’3”, 175-pound defensive back from South Dade in Homestead, Florida, is currently ranked as the 374th best player nationally by the 247Sports Composite (32nd best safety and 64th best player in Florida), with expectations that these rankings will improve over time.

Hughes chose Florida State over offers from several other programs, including Charlotte 49ers, FAU Owls, Louisville Cardinals, Nebraska Cornhuskers, Syracuse Orange, UCF Knights, UConn Huskies, and USF Bulls. The Miami Hurricanes are also expected to extend an offer soon.

Hughes received his offer from Florida State in April and impressed at the June 9th FSU Elite Camp, showcasing his length and quickness. His frame is highly regarded by coaches Pat Surtain and Adam Fuller.

In limited action last season, Hughes recorded four interceptions (one returned for a touchdown) and 15 tackles in six games. While he demonstrates solid tackling technique, he needs to improve consistency. Hughes excels at reading quarterbacks and closing in on ball carriers quickly. FSU’s early commitment to Hughes suggests he has the potential to rise significantly with a strong camp performance and upcoming season.
