Good News: 4-Star Edge snubs Ohio State, Alabama for LSU football

A four-star edge rusher has chosen LSU football over Ohio State and Alabama, strengthening LSU’s 2025 recruiting class. LSU, known for its strong recruiting, now ranks 4th nationally and 2nd in the SEC, according to On3. The addition of Damien Shanklin, a top prospect from Indiana, bolsters their class.

Shanklin, standing at 6’5″ and 245 pounds, is from Warren Central High School in Indianapolis. Throughout his high school career, he recorded 97 tackles, 22 tackles for loss, six sacks, and one interception.

He is ranked No. 48 nationally by 247Sports and No. 86 by On3, making him the best player from Indiana.

Shanklin joins other LSU recruits like defensive linemen Zion Williams and Brandon Brown. His high school coach, Mike Kirschner, noted Shanklin’s impressive physical abilities and coachability since his freshman year.

Additionally, LSU boasts the top prospect in the country, Mississippi QB Bryce Underwood.
