**Ole Miss Transfer LHP Liam Doyle Commits to Tennessee Baseball**
Liam Doyle, a left-handed pitcher transferring from Ole Miss, announced his commitment to Tennessee baseball on Tuesday after an official visit with the Vols on Monday. Doyle becomes the fifth transfer to join Tennessee this offseason, following commitments from Kennesaw State RHP Tanner Franklin, Louisville middle infielder Gavin Kilen, Niagara first baseman Eric Rataczak, and his Ole Miss roommate, third baseman Andrew Fischer.
In his lone season at Ole Miss, Doyle made nine starts and appeared in 14 games, recording 72 strikeouts in 45.1 innings with an ERA of 6.35. Opponents hit .240 against him, and he allowed 18 walks, 42 hits, and 10 home runs, finishing with a 2-4 record. Previously, at Coastal Carolina, Doyle appeared in 23 games with seven starts, striking out 69 batters in 56.1 innings with an ERA of 4.15.
Tennessee recently won its first national championship in the Men’s College World Series, marking the Vols’ first CWS Finals appearance since 1951. They became the first No. 1 overall seed to win the national championship since 1999 and the first SEC team to achieve 60 wins in a single season. The Vols also won the SEC regular season title, SEC Tournament title, and the College World Series in the same year.
Head coach Tony Vitello secured his first national championship in his seventh season at Tennessee, marking his fifth NCAA Tournament appearance and the team’s third trip to Omaha in four seasons. Under Vitello, Tennessee has a 27-11 record in NCAA Tournament play, with his 27 wins tying the record set by Rod Delmonico, Tennessee’s all-time wins leader. Delmonico led the Vols to three College World Series appearances in his tenure.
