**New York Knicks Eyeing Career 40% Three-Point Shooter in Free Agency**
The New York Knicks are focused on strengthening their roster for the 2024-25 season, actively exploring the free agent market. After securing Mikal Bridges and Keita Bates-Diop and re-signing OG Anunoby to a new five-year deal, the Knicks are not finished making moves.
Michael Scotto of HoopsHype reports that the Knicks aim to improve their outside shooting by targeting Davis Bertans, who boasts a 40 percent career three-point shooting average.
“The New York Knicks are among the teams interested in signing free agent Davis Bertans, league sources told HoopsHype. Bertans has shot 39.6 percent from three-point range in his career and played for Latvia in the FIBA Olympics Qualifying Tournament,” Scotto posted on his X (formerly known as Twitter).
Bertans played 28 regular-season games for the Charlotte Hornets in 2023-24, averaging 8.8 points and 1.8 rebounds per game while shooting 37.5 percent from beyond the arc in 20.8 minutes per game. The 31-year-old Latvian became a free agent after being waived by the Hornets recently.
**Potential Reunion with Precious Achiuwa**
Ian Begley of SNY recently revealed that the Knicks have maintained contact with unrestricted free agent Precious Achiuwa for a potential return this offseason. Achiuwa could be an alternative if the team doesn’t sign Bertans.
Achiuwa, a 24-year-old center, joined the Knicks in a major trade for OG Anunoby last season. He played 49 regular-season games (18 starts), averaging 7.6 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks in 24.2 minutes per game.
The Knicks could sign Achiuwa using the $5.2 million taxpayer mid-level exception obtained through the Mikal Bridges trade.
