Done Deal: Texas Longhorns Confirm Another Commitment Of Top Experienced Star

**UTSA Transfer RHP Ruger Riojas Commits to Texas**

Wimberley product Ruger Riojas, who led the UTSA Roadrunners in saves in 2024, has committed to the Texas Longhorns. New Texas head coach Jim Schlossnagle and pitching coach Max Wiener continue to revamp their pitching staff with this addition.

The 6’1, 180-pound right-handed reliever entered the NCAA transfer portal on June 24 and has two seasons of eligibility left.

Riojas, ranked outside the top 200 prospects in Texas by Perfect Game for the 2022 recruiting class, made an impact at UTSA. In 2023, he earned a spot on the Conference USA All-Conference Freshman Team with a 5-0 record and a 4.11 ERA over 20 appearances, including one start.

He struck out 57 batters in 46 innings, allowing only 11 walks. As a sophomore, he led UTSA with seven saves in 26 appearances, lowering his ERA to 3.25 and achieving a 10-3 record. Riojas struck out 75 batters in 69.1 innings, with opponents hitting .256 against him.

Riojas is expected to be a key bullpen asset for the Longhorns in 2025.

Since Schlossnagle and Wiener joined from Texas A&M last month, Texas has also added former Penn right-hander Eli Trop and former LSU right-hander Aiden Moffett from the transfer portal. Additionally, they secured commitments from junior-college transfers Kade Bing, a left-hander from McLennan College, and Ethan Walters, a left-hander from Walters State Community College.
