Official Bama News: Just In Top Talented 5-Star OL Rejects Auburn, Georgia And Vols Commits To Alabama

**5-Star Offensive Lineman Ty Haywood Commits to Alabama**

Alabama has secured a commitment from 5-star offensive lineman Ty Haywood of Ryan High School in Denton, Texas. This marks the Crimson Tide’s second consecutive 5-star recruit, following wide receiver Caleb Cunningham’s commitment on Saturday. Haywood, standing at 6-foot-5 and 285 pounds, becomes the 22nd verbal commitment for Alabama’s 2025 class and the fifth 5-star recruit in head coach Kalen DeBoer’s first full recruiting cycle.

Haywood, who announced his commitment on social media, is ranked as the No. 11 overall player and the No. 2 offensive tackle in the nation by 247Sports’ composite rankings. He had received scholarship offers from prestigious programs such as LSU, Miami, and Michigan, among others. In addition to his football prowess, Haywood is also a notable shot put and discus thrower in high school.

247Sports recruiting analyst Gabe Brooks describes Haywood as a “simultaneously stout and long-armed” player with impressive physical attributes and a significant frame potential. Brooks highlights Haywood’s improvement during his junior season, particularly in his suddenness and explosiveness at the snap. Haywood is praised for his quick feet, quick hands, and strong anchoring ability, making him an effective blocker.

Haywood is the second 5-star recruit from Texas to join Alabama this cycle, alongside Duncanville quarterback Keelon Russell. Other 5-star commits in Alabama’s 2025 class include California cornerback Dijon Lee and Georgia linebacker Darrell “Duke” Johnson.

With Haywood’s addition, Alabama now has five offensive linemen in its 2025 class. These include 4-star guard/center Michael Carroll from Doylestown, Pa., four-star tackles Jackson Lloyd from Carmel, Calif., and Micah DeBose from Vigor, along with 3-star tackle Mal Waldrep from Central Phenix City. Alabama’s 2025 recruiting class is currently ranked No. 2 nationally, trailing only Ohio State, according to 247Sports composite rankings.
