Official Braves News: Just In Brian Snitker Confirm The Signing Of Another Top Experienced Star Who Rejects Yankees

**Braves Sign First-Round Pick Cam Caminiti**

The Atlanta Braves secured a major draft steal by selecting highly-touted prep pitcher Cam Caminiti with the 24th overall pick.

Despite expectations that Caminiti would require an over-slot signing bonus, he signed for the slot value, as reported by Jim Callis of MLB Pipeline. This leaves the Braves with additional funds to pursue top prep talent from later rounds.

Caminiti, the top prep arm in the 2024 MLB draft, was unexpectedly available at 24. The Braves seized the opportunity to sign the LSU commit. At just 17 years old, Caminiti reclassified from the 2025 class to begin his professional career early. He immediately becomes one of Atlanta’s top prospects.

His fastball reaches 97 mph, with potential for increased velocity, and his changeup is advanced for his age. While his feel for spin is a concern, his slider and curveball have shown improvement, presenting a project for the Braves’ strong pitching development team.

With nearly $1.2 million left to spend, the Braves plan to use a significant portion to sign 6th-round pick Nick Montgomery, who will require an overslot bonus. The remaining funds will likely go towards signing 12th-round pick Cayman Goode and 20th-round pick Eric Hartman away from their Division-I commitments.
