**Badgers Freshman RB Darrion Dupree Making a Strong Impression in Fall Camp**
Wisconsin Badgers freshman running back Darrion Dupree is already catching attention during fall camp.
The coaching staff has been impressed with the running back group’s performance in the early practices in Platteville. Tawee Walker, who was seen as a standout in the spring, is expected to form a strong 1-2 combination with Chez Mellusi. Meanwhile, Dupree, a true freshman, is also drawing significant notice.
Dupree, compared to former Badger Brian Calhoun on Locked on Badgers, was a highly regarded recruit in the class of 2024, ranked just behind Dilin Jones. The Mount Carmel (IL) High School standout received scholarship offers from major programs such as Alabama, Iowa, Louisville, Michigan, Missouri, Notre Dame, and Washington before choosing Wisconsin.
Known for his pass-catching ability and impressive footwork, Dupree’s skills have clearly attracted attention from top programs.
First-year wide receivers coach Kenny Guiton recently spoke about Dupree’s abilities, praising his unique talent and contact balance. Guiton noted, “Darrion is just a different breed. He has exceptional contact balance and a thicker lower half that enhances his play. When he gets the ball, you can sense something special is about to happen. We’re excited about him, and I won’t be surprised by his contributions as the season progresses.”
While Mellusi and Walker are expected to lead the backfield touches, Dupree is making a strong case to earn playing time this season.
