**New York Rangers Sign Braden Schneider to Two-Year Extension**
The New York Rangers have secured a two-year, $4.4 million contract extension with defenseman Braden Schneider, according to an announcement by general manager Chris Drury. The deal, finalized on Saturday, keeps the 22-year-old Schneider in New York, with defenseman Ryan Lindgren now the only unsigned starter on the blue line. Lindgren has filed for arbitration.
This extension follows the Rangers’ recent move to bolster their defense by re-signing veteran Chad Ruhwedel to a one-year contract.
Last season, Schneider set personal bests in games played (82), assists (14), and points (19), while matching his career high with five goals. He also ranked second among Rangers defensemen with 167 hits and 133 blocked shots.
In his three seasons with the Rangers, Schneider has accumulated 12 goals, 36 assists, and a plus-13 rating across 206 NHL games. The Prince Albert, Saskatchewan native was drafted 19th overall by New York in the 2020 NHL Draft.
