**Four-Star Derick Smith Flips Commitment**
The University of Alabama has faced another setback in recruiting as four-star athlete Derick Smith has decommitted and committed to the Auburn Tigers. According to Hayes Fawcett of On3 Sports, Smith, who is ranked as the No. 2 athlete nationally and No. 7 in Alabama by On3, made this switch after a significant recruiting weekend across the state.
Smith, hailing from Selma, Alabama, originally committed to Alabama in March of this year. He also received offers from Georgia, Ole Miss, LSU, and other programs. During his junior year at Southside, Smith played primarily as a running back and safety, with additional roles at quarterback and linebacker. He amassed 2,523 offensive yards, 23 total touchdowns, and recorded 74 tackles and 11 sacks on defense.
Following “Big Cat Weekend,” another significant commitment shift occurred as four-star defensive lineman Antonio Coleman also moved his commitment from Alabama to Auburn.
