There’s speculation that the Miami Heat could trade Jimmy Butler for Houston Rockets star Jalen Green and draft picks. This comes as the Heat’s offseason has left fans disappointed, with no significant additions to the roster and even some losses that may have weakened the team.
The good news is that Butler appears set to remain with the Heat for now, despite earlier doubts about his future. However, long-term questions persist, with expectations that Butler might aim for a strong season before exploring a lucrative contract next summer. Butler’s current contract with the Heat has two years left, but the second year is a player option.
The idea of trading Butler isn’t completely off the table. In a prediction by Daniel Alameda on TWSN, a potential trade scenario was proposed where Butler would be sent to Houston in exchange for Jalen Green, a future first-round pick, and a second-round pick. The Rockets would receive Butler and a future second-round pick in return.
Alameda suggested that this trade would allow Miami to focus on its future by building around younger talent, while Houston would gain a seasoned leader to help develop their promising core. Although Green isn’t currently at Butler’s level, his potential is still highly regarded. Green’s performance has seen some ups and downs, with his scoring average dipping from 22.1 points per game in his second season to 19.6 in his third. However, his rebounding has improved significantly.
Given Green’s potential, a move to Miami could be the change needed to unlock his full abilities, making the trade beneficial for both teams.
