The Chicago Bulls have waived two-way guard Andrew Funk, the team announced on Wednesday. Funk, 24, was signed to a two-way contract by the Bulls last February and spent most of his time playing with the Windy City Bulls in the G-League. In 13 games with the G-League team, Funk averaged 11.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game while playing 35.2 minutes on average.
Funk also made brief appearances in five NBA games with the Bulls, logging a total of 13 minutes, mostly in garbage time.
During this summer’s league, Funk played in all five of the Bulls’ games, averaging 13.9 minutes, 2.4 points, 0.8 rebounds, and 0.6 assists per game. However, his shooting percentages were disappointing, with just 16.7% from the field and 17.6% from three-point range.
With Funk’s release, the Bulls now have an open two-way contract spot. The other two-way spots are currently held by Chicago native DJ Steward and Adama Sanogo. Each NBA team is allowed to have three two-way contracts on their roster.
