Breaking: Eagles Cut With Another Huge Blow As Top talented Fans Favorite Defensive Lineman Suffers Career Ending Injury.

Zach Berman of PHLY reports that standout defensive tackle Jalen Carter hobbled off the field on Sunday with what seemed to be an injury and headed to the locker room, making an already dismal day for the Philadelphia Eagles much worse. Carter and centre Cam Jurgens are doubtful to play again due to cramping, the Eagles later stated.

Carter’s injury occurred during the second half of Philadelphia’s matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, with the Eagles trailing by multiple scores.

Since Baker Mayfield and the Buccaneers offence have been moving the ball freely against them, Carter and the Philadelphia defence haven’t been able to muster much of an offensive response today. Eagles supporters will be happy to learn that Carter and Jurgens are simply experiencing cramps and that their availability shouldn’t be impacted going forward. This season, Philadelphia has already had a tonne of injuries on both sides of the ball. They lost Darius Slay to an injury during Sunday’s game, but he later made a comeback. In addition to top right tackle Lane Johnson missing Week 4 due to a concussion, they were already playing without wide outs AJ Brown (hamstring) and DeVonta Smith (concussion) on offence in this game. Jurgens’ loss would have been A big blow on top of that.

Carter quickly became a star with the Eagles last season as a rookie, recording six sacks and eight tackles for loss in 16 games in 2023-24 despite playing limited snaps. His ability to dominate the game as an interior pass rusher is a rare skill in the league, and the Eagles will be happy to have him back on the field in Week 6 after their bye.

As the team struggles to get the production they had hoped for from their edge rusher group, Carter is capable of picking up the slack from the interior and still giving the Eagles a disruptive defensive front.
