Done Deal: 49ers sign former second-round pick of the Panthers to practice squad, according to report……..

Terrace Marshall Jr., a wide receiver, has been added by the San Francisco 49ers to their practice squad. NFL Insider The first to disclose Marshall’s 49ers signing was Jordan Schultz. The first person to announce he was joining the practice squad was Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston. Following his waiver clearance, Marshall became a free agent after being cut by the Carolina Panthers earlier this week. After attending LSU, Marshall was selected by the Panthers in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft.

During his time in Carolina, Marshall showed considerable promise, particularly in the 2022 campaign. In the second half of the season, Marshall caused the most of his damage with 490 receiving yards and a touchdown on 28 receptions. He was unable to maintain that winning momentum from the previous season, though. Marshall played in just nine games (four of which he started) due to injuries, but he only finished the season with 19 receptions and 139 receiving yards.

In 36 games (16 starts), Marshall concluded his Panthers career with 767 receiving yards, one touchdown, and 64 receptions (110 targets). Marshall certainly faced a monumental uphill struggle in spite of that deficient output. The Panthers have three full-time head coaches under Marshall’s leadership going into this season. In that time, Carolina has also had extreme difficulty getting any output out of their quarterbacks. Marshall could be able to capitalise on the qualities that once made him a top prospect if he relocates to San Francisco.
Marshall, a five-star recruit out of Louisiana’s Parkview High School, attended LSU for his whole collegiate career. Throughout his three years on college, Marshall made a contribution. In 2019, he was a member of the unbeaten championship squad. Marshall was LSU’s best wide receiver in 2020 after trailing future NFL talents Justin Jefferson and Ja’Mar Chase in the starting lineup. Marshall had a team-high 10 touchdowns and 731 receiving yards in seven games that season.

Marshall, who stood 6 feet 2 inches and 210 pounds, possessed NFL stature and further raised his draft prospects on his pro day by running a 4.37 40-yard dash. Although there were some worries over his inconsistent play, Marshall was still considered a top prospect because to his physical attributes and success history at a top program. The 49ers would try to assist Marshall in changing the narrative as those worries became more and more apparent in Carolina.
