Done Deal: Just In Titans Confirm The Signing Of Another Top Talented Star

They brought in a trio of inexperienced cornerbacks, led by slot ace Kenny Moore, to replace Stephon Gilmore’s one-and-done lineup. Tennessee currently has a guy on its roster who was one of the players Indianapolis started the season.
The Titans successfully filed a claim when the Colts waived Darrell Baker Jr. on Wednesday, according to Aaron Wilson of KPRC2. Baker’s rookie deal has two years left on it.

Baker was originally added to Indianapolis’ 53-man roster; however, the organization later took 49ers player Samuel Womack off waivers. Baker will join the 53-man roster of another AFC South team instead of going through waivers to a possible practice squad spot with Indianapolis.

Baker began the 2018 season as a starting cornerback for the Colts, and as the season went on, they handed him five more outside starts. Baker wasn’t expected to start the season, and Joel Erickson of the Indianapolis Star reports that 2023 seventh-round pick Jaylon Jones replaced Julius Brents in the starting lineup. Baker had been training with the Colts’ second-string players opposite Dallis Flowers. Pro Football Focus put Baker outside the top 100 at defensive end last season despite the fact that he played 467 defensive snaps the previous year after playing none his rookie season.

With the trade of Elijah Molden, a three-year contributor, Tennessee moved on and waived first-round pick Caleb Farley’s contract. With the addition of free agent Chidobe Awuzie and trade acquisition L’Jarius Sneed, the franchise added two expensive pieces as Dennard Wilson takes over on Nashville’s defense. As a backup quarterback, the Titans want to use Baker, with Roger McCreary projected to occupy the slot. Jarvis Brownlee, a rookie selected in the fifth round, is also on the squad roster.

Additionally, Wilson notes that the Titans placed fourth-round rookie linebacker Cedric Gray on injured reserve and added Nick Vannett from their practice squad.
