A day after a man was killed in a Scott County crash, the local racing community remembers him as a drag racing legend.
Terry Coyle, a local racer, had an intense interest in drag racing. He was a regular racer at Laurel County’s London Dragway. Owner of London Dragway Craig Boone described him as “a fierce competitor, very competitive, and he took winning seriously, and he could beat anyone most of the time.” “Just expected him to be here next month, just like he always came.”
Terry holds the dragway’s door car track record. He ran 1/8 of a mile in 3.75 seconds. Even more so than his skill on the track, he was a fantastic buddy off it. “He’d call me usually about once a week or every other week,” Boone recalled. “‘How are you doing?’ he would ask. simply a constant worry for other people. We would frequently converse about life in general.”
Coyle was a favourite because of his character, knowledge, and quickness. Boone said, “Everyone loved him.” It’s heartbreaking because everyone adored him. Nobody has ever said anything negative about him, and it’s incredibly upsetting because they expected him to be here and now he won’t be as depressed.” Coyle was sixty-one years old at the time of the mishap.
