Breaking: Just In AFormer Star WR at LSU Signing With 49ers: Report.

Terrace Marshall Jr., a former standout wide receiver at LSU, was one of the more well-known names on the cutting block during the NFL’s 53-man roster deadline on Tuesday. The 24-year-old was selected by the Carolina Panthers in the second round of the 2021 draft, but during his first three seasons as a professional, his potential did not translate into on-field success. Now that the regular season is about to begin, he will have the opportunity to start over with a new and improved club.

Despite the school’s prowess for developing elite NFL pass catchers – Odell Beckham Jr., Justin Jefferson, Ja’Marr Chase, Jarvis Landry to name a few – Marshall stood out. Marshall’s NFL stat sheet has paled in comparison, though, with only 1 career touchdown in 36 NFL games. He faces an uphill climb to stick on the reigning NFC champions’ roster amid the likes of Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk, Jauan Jennings and 2024 first-round pick Ricky Pearsall.

Marshall stood out even though the school was known for producing outstanding NFL pass catchers, like Jarvis Landry, Odell Beckham Jr., Justin Jefferson, and Ja’Marr Chase. Nevertheless, Marshall’s NFL stat sheet is minuscule, having only 1 career touchdown in 36 NFL games. He will have a difficult time staying on the roster of the defending NFC Champions, which includes players like Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk, Jauan Jennings, and 2024 first-round selection Ricky Pearsall.
