Done Deal: Just In Another Top Talented Star Commits To Florida Gators Football

The Florida Gators football team has bolstered its 2025 recruiting class with the addition of four-star cornerback Ben Hanks Jr., a legacy player. Hanks Jr., standing 6-foot-1, is the son of former Gators linebacker Ben Hanks Sr., and he aims to continue his father’s legacy at the University of Florida.

Hailing from Miami, Hanks Jr. is ranked as the No. 81 overall recruit in the nation and the 10th-best cornerback in the 2025 class according to 247Sports. His commitment marks the 13th addition to head coach Billy Napier’s 2025 recruiting class, boosting the Gators’ class ranking to No. 30 nationally.

Hanks Jr. is not just a football star; he is also a multi-sport athlete, excelling in track and baseball at the high school level. His athletic journey began at Doral Academy, where he played varsity football as a freshman, recording 23 tackles and two interceptions.

He later transferred to Booker T. Washington High School for his sophomore year, where he played a crucial role in the team’s 9-3 season and their appearance in Florida’s 2M playoffs. During that season, Hanks Jr. accumulated 31 tackles, eight pass breakups, and three interceptions in just 11 games.

His junior year was even more impressive, earning him All-Dade County honors from the Miami Herald. He finished the season with 38 total tackles, six interceptions, and three blocked field goals, solidifying his reputation as one of the top defensive talents in the state.

Hanks Jr. is the first defensive back commitment for Florida in the 2025 cycle and is now the third-highest-rated recruit in the Gators’ class. His addition provides defensive backs coach Will Harris with a strong foundation to build the future of Florida’s secondary.
