Good News: Just In Top Experienced Maple Leafs Star Who Reject New Contract Offer With Toronto Officailly Sign With Vancouver Canucks

The Vancouver Canucks have made a key addition to their coaching staff by appointing former Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Justin Pogge as the new goaltending coach for their AHL affiliate, the Abbotsford Canucks. Following a semifinal loss to the Ontario Reign last season, the Canucks are focused on improving their AHL team for the 2024-25 season. Pogge, despite a brief NHL career with only seven games for the Maple Leafs in 2009 at age 22, has extensive experience in the AHL and international leagues.

Abbotsford Canucks general manager Ryan Johnson expressed excitement about the hire, stating on August 26, “I am very excited to have Justin Pogge join our team as Goaltending Coach. He brings a wealth of experience at the NHL, AHL, international, and European professional levels, and I’m looking forward to seeing him help develop our goaltenders in Abbotsford.”

Pogge played 254 AHL regular-season games, including time with the Toronto Marlies, and also gained international recognition by leading Canada’s junior national team to a gold medal at the 2006 World Junior Championship. Originally drafted by the Maple Leafs in 2004 as the 90th overall pick, Pogge brings valuable experience to his new role with the Canucks.
