Done Deal: Just In Rangers Officially Announce A Super Signing Of Top Talented And Experienced SuperStar Due To.

Adam Erne, a forward, has been invited to the New York Rangers training camp on a professional tryout deal. This information was first reported by TSN’s Darren Dreger on Tuesday.

Erne played for the Edmonton Oilers organisation last season, alternating between the NHL and the team’s affiliate in the American Hockey League, the Bakersfield Condors. After being invited to Edmonton’s camp on a PTO, the product of New Haven, Connecticut, was able to secure a one-year deal.

Erne only made 24 appearances for the Oilers in the regular season, but he did so with one assist and one goal. On December 21, he scored his only goal against the New Jersey Devils. Playing in two of the team’s Calder Cup Playoff games in spring, the former Quebec Rempart recorded six goals and six assists in 36 appearances with the Condors.

Erne had played for three teams before joining the Oilers. The Tampa Bay Lightning selected the winger with the 33rd overall pick in the second round of the 2013 NHL Draft. He only spent one complete season with the Lightning since he was also very involved with the Syracuse Crunch, who were their main affiliate. Following his August 2019 move to the Detroit Red Wings, Erne started playing in the NHL on a regular basis. After playing four seasons in Hockeytown, the 29-year-old was released without a contract following the 2022–2023 season.

Erne has only appeared in three Stanley Cup Playoff games despite having 43 goals and 50 assists in 379 NHL games. That occurred during the Lightning’s historic sweep at the hands of the Columbus Blue Jackets in the 2019 postseason’s opening round. When training camp rolls around, it will be intriguing to see where Erne fits into the Rangers’ roster. For the upcoming season, the squad has already added a tonne of depth wingers, such as Will Cuylle, Jimmy Vesey, and Matt Rempe. Additionally, the Blueshirts don’t have a lot of cap room. According to CapWages, they have just under $700,000 available with 46 out of 50 contracts on the books.
