Breaking: Just in Texas Rangers free agency Hit is on a verge to sign bullpen to rebuild, who’s their closer?

Baseball’s free agency period starts after the World Series, giving teams like the Texas Rangers, who didn’t compete for a title this postseason, a chance to enhance their rosters for next year.

This week, we’ll focus on the Rangers’ free agency plans, specifically examining potential closing pitchers they might target.

### Overview:
The Rangers successfully upgraded their late-game bullpen this season with Kirby Yates, a former All-Star they signed for $4.5 million, and veteran David Robertson, whom they paid $5 million and could return next season for $7 million through a mutual option. This revamped bullpen shifted from being historically poor to a reliable unit during a challenging season. Yates is expected to command a significantly higher salary as he enters free agency, while Robertson, who performed well at age 39, is also due for a raise. Additionally, José Leclerc and Andrew Chafin are off the books, leaving the Rangers with Josh Sborz, Jacob Latz, Grant Anderson, and Walter Pennington in their bullpen.

“Losing potentially three key pitchers, we need to find replacements,” said President of Baseball Operations Chris Young. “We’ll have to be innovative in exploring trades, waivers, and developing our own talent.”

### The Big Target: Tanner Scott
Tanner Scott, a 30-year-old first-time All-Star with the Miami Marlins, has been among the best late-inning relievers in recent years, accumulating a 4.5 WAR since 2023. With a 1.75 ERA and 22 saves this season, he’s the top closer available and would significantly bolster the Rangers’ bullpen. However, signing him may require a contract around $15 million per season, a hefty amount for a reliever, which could limit the Rangers’ ability to address other needs.

### The Middle Option: Paul Sewald
The closer market includes both top-tier and less experienced pitchers. Paul Sewald, who saved the eighth-most games from 2022 to 2023, was traded to the Arizona Diamondbacks but had a regression this season, finishing with a 4.31 ERA. He may not be as expensive as top-tier closers and could be a gamble for the Rangers.

Aroldis Chapman, who saved 14 games this year, is also a free agent and could be considered for a similar price range of $8-10 million.

### The Value Pick: Seranthony Domínguez
The Rangers could aim for a low-cost signing like Seranthony Domínguez, who has saved 38 games in his career and performed well after joining the Baltimore Orioles. With a fastball averaging 97.8 mph and strong performance in high-leverage situations, he fits the profile of a less experienced pitcher who could step into a closing role. Other potential targets include Yimi Garcia and Andrew Kittredge, both of whom have market values around $3-5 million.

As the Rangers explore their options, balancing budget with the need for effective pitching will be crucial.
