Johnson, who is entering his fourth year in the NFL, brings experience from several different teams. He first entered the league as an undrafted rookie out of Georgia Southern, signing with the New York Giants. During his time with the Giants, Johnson played in 15 games, contributing four tackles and one sack.
After his stint with the Giants, Johnson had brief tenures with the Detroit Lions, San Francisco 49ers, and Jacksonville Jaguars. However, despite being part of these teams, he did not appear in any regular-season games during that time. Johnson now returns to Cincinnati, where he had previously spent time before bouncing around the league.
Johnson’s addition fills the spot left by edge-rusher Isaiah Thomas, who recently signed with the Lions. It’s uncertain whether Johnson will have a significant impact on the field, given his career trajectory thus far. However, the Bengals are in need of help as they try to recover from a rough start to the season.
