Latest Longhorns News: Sarkisian Share Good News About Injured Talented Fans Favorite SuperStar Ahead Texas-Georgia showdown

Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian provided an update on wide receiver’s status for the upcoming matchup against Georgia. Bond, who injured his ankle during Texas’ dominant 34-3 win over Oklahoma, is expected to be upgraded from “questionable” to “probable” for the game. Sarkisian mentioned this during a press conference on Thursday, ahead of the Longhorns’ highly anticipated game against the fifth-ranked Georgia Bulldogs.

Bond, the leading receiver for the top-ranked Longhorns, initially suffered the injury early in the game against Oklahoma, re-aggravating it later.

He was seen in a walking boot on Tuesday but returned to practice on Wednesday and Thursday. Though Bond isn’t at full strength, reports suggest that he will still likely play in Saturday’s game. Sarkisian expressed optimism regarding Bond’s recovery and performance, acknowledging that while Bond may not be 100%, he should be able to contribute.

Bond’s return would be a boost for Texas, as he has been one of their top playmakers this season. After transferring from Alabama, where he had standout moments, including a crucial role in the Crimson Tide’s 27-24 victory over Georgia in last year’s SEC Championship, Bond has quickly established himself as a key asset for Texas. This season, Bond is tied for the team lead with 21 receptions and has racked up 369 receiving yards and three touchdowns. His experience and ability to make big plays, especially on third downs, have been critical for the Longhorns’ success.

In addition to his receiving stats, Bond has contributed to the running game, with two carries for 51 yards, including a touchdown. His versatility has made him a valuable weapon for Texas, especially in big moments. His connection with quarterback Arch Manning has been evident, with Bond hauling in a 51-yard touchdown pass in the team’s win over UTSA.

Texas faces a challenging test against Georgia, and Bond’s availability could play a significant role in the outcome. Sarkisian praised Bond’s work ethic and ability to quickly adapt to Texas’ system after his transfer from Alabama, highlighting his impact on the team.

Bond’s likely return adds depth to the Longhorns’ offense as they prepare for a crucial SEC showdown.
