Good News: Panthers activate CB Dane Jackson, And Officially Announced The Signing Of Another Top Experienced Former Superbowl Winner To Active Roster

The Carolina Panthers have made several roster moves ahead of their upcoming game, including the activation of cornerback Dane Jackson from injured reserve. Jackson, who joined the Panthers as a free agent, has been recovering from a hamstring injury that kept him sidelined throughout the summer. Now fully recovered, Jackson is set to make his debut for the team.

In addition to activating Jackson, the Panthers signed defensive lineman T.J. Smith to the active roster. Smith has been a member of the practice squad and brings experience from his previous appearances in seven NFL games. His promotion to the 53-man roster provides additional depth on the defensive line.

To create space on the active roster, the Panthers released cornerback Troy Hill and waived center Andrew Raym. Hill, a veteran cornerback, had been a part of the Panthers’ secondary rotation, while Raym was brought in to compete at the center position. Their departures opened the necessary roster spots for Jackson and Smith.

The team also made temporary adjustments by elevating two players from the practice squad for Sunday’s game against the Washington Commanders. Edge rusher Shaq Lawson and linebacker Shaq Quarterman were both called up to strengthen the defense for the game. However, both players will revert back to the practice squad after the game concludes, as their elevations are for one-week purposes.

These moves come as the Panthers continue to adjust their roster in response to injuries and performance needs. With Jackson returning to full health and Smith providing additional depth, the team is hoping to improve its defense and strengthen its roster for the remainder of the season. The elevation of Lawson and Quarterman adds a temporary boost to the Panthers’ pass-rushing and linebacker units for the upcoming matchup, while the release of Hill and Raym reflects the need to make room for more impactful players.
