ESPN REPORT: Just In Another Cleveland Browns Superstar Who Rejects New Contract Offer Officially Sign With Rivals

Former Cleveland Browns running back Kareem Hunt has been signed by the Kansas City Chiefs to their practice squad, marking a homecoming for the player. NFL analyst Tom Pelissero broke the news on X, stating that the Chiefs brought Hunt in to help manage their injury-plagued backfield. Following an injury to running back Isiah Pacheco, the Chiefs needed reinforcements, and Hunt, who was initially drafted by Kansas City, was a natural fit. According to Pelissero, Hunt could be back on the field soon.

Hunt is well-known to both Kansas City and Cleveland fans due to his history with both teams. He was originally selected by the Chiefs in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft and quickly made an impact in the league. In his rookie season, Hunt rushed for an impressive 1,327 yards and scored eight touchdowns, earning him a Pro Bowl selection. His second year with Kansas City in 2018 was also strong, as he accumulated 1,202 total yards and scored 14 touchdowns. However, his time with the team was cut short when a video surfaced showing Hunt in a violent altercation with a woman. The Chiefs released him in November of that year.

Despite the controversy, Hunt’s NFL career continued when the Cleveland Browns picked him up. Over the next five seasons, Hunt played in 64 games for the Browns, becoming a key contributor to their offense. During his time in Cleveland, he rushed for 2,285 yards and scored 25 touchdowns on the ground. Additionally, Hunt was a reliable pass-catcher out of the backfield, adding 1,057 receiving yards and seven touchdowns.

Now, Hunt returns to Kansas City, where he began his professional career. With injuries affecting the Chiefs’ backfield, Hunt’s experience and versatility could prove valuable. Though currently on the practice squad, it is expected that he will have the opportunity to make an on-field contribution in the near future.

Hunt’s signing is a chance for him to revive his career with the franchise that originally drafted him, while also helping the Chiefs deal with their current roster challenges.
