Good News: Just In Dan Morgan Officially Announced The Addition Of Another Top Experienced Superstar To Bolstered Squad Depth

The Carolina Panthers bolstered their defense by adding veteran pass-rusher Charles Harris on Wednesday. Harris, 29, brings experience to the outside linebacker position after spending the last three seasons with the Detroit Lions. Over the course of his seven-year NFL career, Harris has accumulated 16.5 sacks, with his most productive season coming in 2021, when he recorded 7.5 sacks for Detroit.

Originally a first-round draft pick by the Miami Dolphins, Harris has since carved out a steady role as a reliable edge rusher. His addition to the Panthers’ roster adds depth and experience to a position that has seen younger players taking on significant roles this season. Currently, the Panthers are experimenting with DJ Johnson and Eku Leota splitting time at outside linebacker opposite veteran Jadeveon Clowney. By bringing in Harris, the team gains a seasoned pass-rusher who can provide leadership to the younger players and help enhance the overall performance of the Panthers’ defensive front.

Harris’ signing reflects the Panthers’ effort to strengthen their defense, especially after their opening game showed room for improvement in getting pressure on opposing quarterbacks. The combination of Harris and Clowney could give Carolina a more formidable pass-rushing unit, as the team seeks to improve their defensive play as the season progresses.

In addition to signing Harris, the Panthers also re-signed tight end Feleipe Franks to the practice squad on Wednesday. Franks, who was waived on Monday, had played in the Panthers’ season opener and made a significant contribution on special teams by recovering a muffed punt. His ability to contribute in multiple phases of the game makes him a valuable asset for the team’s depth, and his return to the practice squad ensures the Panthers have additional options at tight end if needed in the future.

Overall, the Panthers’ moves on Wednesday—adding Charles Harris and bringing back Feleipe Franks—highlight their focus on improving depth and versatility at key positions. With Harris bringing veteran experience to the linebacker group and Franks contributing on special teams, the Panthers are taking steps to address potential weaknesses and improve their overall team performance as the season unfolds.
