Breaking: Gators Hit With Another Huge Blow As Top Talented And Well Experienced Receiver Player Suffers Career Ending Knee Injury.

GAINESVILLE — Florida’s top receiver Tre Wilson will be out of the lineup for the majority of the team’s Saturday game against Mississippi State. Wilson underwent minor knee surgery this week, The Associated Press was informed on Thursday by a source with knowledge of the matter. Because Wilson’s operation has not been publicly announced by the Gators, the source talked to the AP under condition of anonymity. Wilson’s setback is not thought to be a season-ending injury, the source said. Wilson was declared out by the Gators (1-2, 0-1 SEC Conference) on Wednesday night, which left coach Billy Napier searching for a replacement just three games into the season.

Week 1 starter Kahleil Jackson (knee) is out for the season, and Florida won’t have senior Ja’Quavion Fraziars for the fourth consecutive game. Freshman Tank Hawkins is questionable, so Napier may have to turn to redshirt freshman Aidan Mizell, reserve Marcus Burke or former walk-on Taylor Spierto to play alongside starters Elijhah Badger and Chimere Dike.

With Tre Wilson, we’re a better team, without a doubt, Napier remarked. Wilson, a sophomore from Tampa who excelled at Gaither High School and is the son of safety Eugene Wilson, who won two Super Bowls, has led the team with 13 receptions for 191 yards and a touchdown in two games. He was a game-time decision versus Texas A&M due to a knee injury sustained in a 45-7 victory over Samford two weeks prior. Before the game, he warmed up, and when the Gators emerged from the locker room for kickoff, he wasn’t dressed. 33-20 was the Gators’ loss. Wilson was left off of the SEC’s availability report when it was first released, and now, four days later, it appears like the Gators are about to fire Napier.

“He woke up the next day, and I think we’ve gotten to the bottom of what it is and all that,” Napier said. “So all good.”
