Official WNBA News: WNBA star Caitlin Clark gets an offer from the Philadelphia Phillies

WNBA star Caitlin Clark has recently caught attention, not for her basketball skills, but for her unexpected foray into baseball commentary. Clark, a standout in women’s basketball, was filmed during a Philadelphia Phillies and Milwaukee Brewers game, where she humorously provided a mock broadcast. The video, recorded by her Indiana Fever teammate Lexie Hull and posted on TikTok, quickly went viral.

Clark, surprised by how the video took off, later shared with reporters that the experience gave her newfound respect for professional baseball broadcasters. She admitted that her impromptu commentary was both challenging and exhausting, acknowledging the difficulty of keeping up with the flow of the game while commentating.

In the video, Clark joked around, mentioning her knowledge of some Phillies players and enjoying the experience despite messing up a few times. “It’s a hard gig,” she confessed. While she doesn’t see herself pursuing a career in broadcasting, Clark humorously teased the idea by tweeting, “@Phillies hire me?”

The viral moment caught the attention of both the Phillies and Brewers. The Phillies responded with a playful offer, extending an invitation for Clark and her boyfriend, Connor McCaffery (a Phillies fan), to join them in the broadcast booth. Phillies broadcaster Tom McCarthy praised her efforts and welcomed her to try out commentating for real.

Not to be outdone, the Milwaukee Brewers also invited Clark to their booth, tweeting, “Let’s get you on our broadcast for real @CaitlinClark22.”

While fans are excited by the prospect of Clark trading the basketball court for a baseball booth, it may be a while before this opportunity materializes. The WNBA Playoffs began on September 22, and Clark is focused on helping her team, the Indiana Fever, chase a championship. However, her viral commentary debut and the teams’ responses have added a lighthearted and entertaining moment to her offseason activities.

For now, Clark remains a basketball superstar, but the door to baseball commentary has been humorously cracked open, with fans eagerly awaiting if she’ll take on the challenge in the future.
